What is a Part 107 Certification and How to Obtain One

A Part 107 certification is a certification issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that is required to operate a drone commercially in the United States. To obtain a Part 107 certification, you must pass a knowledge test administered by the FAA and meet certain other requirements.

The Part 107 knowledge test covers a range of topics, including airspace, weather, aircraft performance, and FAA regulations. The test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions and you must score at least 70% to pass. You can schedule an appointment to take the test at an approved testing center, or you can take the test online through the FAA's Testing and Certification System.

Once you pass the test, you will receive a temporary Part 107 certificate, which is valid for 120 days. The FAA will review your application and, if everything is in order, you will receive a permanent Part 107 certificate. You must renew your Part 107 certification every two years.

It's important to note that a Part 107 certification is required for commercial drone operation in the US only. Other countries have their own rules and regulations for commercial drone operation.
