Obtaining a Drone License Online: Options and Requirements

In some countries, it is possible to obtain a drone license, also known as a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) license, online by completing a training course or exam. The specific requirements for obtaining a drone license online vary depending on the country and the type of operation you plan to conduct.

In the United States, for example, you can take the Part 107 knowledge test online through the FAA's Testing and Certification System. To take the test online, you must first create an account on the FAA's Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) website. Once you have an account, you can schedule an appointment to take the test at an approved testing center. The test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions and you must score at least 70% to pass.

In the United Kingdom, you can obtain a Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) by completing an online training course and passing a knowledge test.

In Canada, you can apply for a Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) online by submitting an application to Transport Canada and meeting certain safety requirements.

It's important to note that the availability of online options for obtaining a drone license may vary depending on the country and the type of operation you plan to conduct. It's a good idea to check with the relevant authorities to determine the options that are available in your specific circumstances.
