How To Get Part 107 License

To get a Part 107 license, also known as a Remote Pilot Certificate, you must:

  1. Be at least 16 years old
  2. Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
  3. Pass the FAA's aeronautical knowledge test at an FAA-approved testing center
  4. Pass a TSA security background check
  5. Submit your application and fee to the FAA

Here are the steps to take to get your Part 107 license:

  • Study for the aeronautical knowledge test by using the FAA's free study materials or by taking a Part 107 test prep course.

  • Take the aeronautical knowledge test at an FAA-approved testing center. You must pass with a score of at least 70%.

  • Apply for your Remote Pilot Certificate using the FAA's online portal, IACRA.

  • Complete the TSA security background check.

  • Once you have completed the above steps, the FAA will review your application and issue your Remote Pilot Certificate.

It's important to note that the FAA may deny your certificate if you have certain criminal convictions or medical conditions that may affect your ability to safely operate a drone. It's recommended to check the FAA's website for the most up-to-date information and guidance for obtaining a Part 107 license.
